Capturing the life stories of Morongo Basin residents in hospice care
This is a collaborative effort of Hospice of Morongo Basis, Copper Mountain College, San Bernardino County Libraries and the Morongo Basin Historical Society. Hospice volunteers from Morongo Basin Hospice and student volunteers from a class on death and dying at Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree will receive training in oral history methodology and interview a total of 12 individuals in hospice care through Morongo Basin Hospice.
The purpose of the program is to capture life stories and preserve those stories for the benefit of the individuals’ families.
The stories as well as photographs illustrating interviewees’ lives will be presented to the public in spring 2009 at several different venues, including the Hi-Desert Playhouse in Joshua Tree and three San Bernardino County libraries. The stories will also be available in CD format and on the Hospice of Morongo Basin website.
